One of Cameroon’s best films, “Before The Sun Rise” is showing again on TV stations. Abakwa TV in Bamenda and DBS television in Douala have this week picked to air again to air again following frequent demands from fans of the film. The movie was the result of the early collaboration between well known Nigerian film producers and actors and their close neighbors in Cameroon.

Before the Sunrise ” is the first major collaboration between Nollywood and Cameroon’s budding English language film industry, Caliwood.

Is took more than five years before the well established Nigerian film actors thought the relatively young English film industry in Cameroon was up to standards.

By deciding to appear in an English speaking film, finally some Nigerian actors were giving a sign of approval to the budding film industry of their neighbours.

The film is now available online and can be viewed or purchased from the in nollywood or izognmovies websites.

Although the film was launched with pomp in Yaounde a few years ago, it is still competing favorably on television screens with newer movies. It was shot in Limbe in the South West Region. According to some film fans I spoke to, it seems like a befitting appreciation of the efforts of the early initiators of the Cameroon film industry for their sacrifices and risks to invest in the sector.

Prominent amongst the cast are Nigerian film stars, Zach OrjiDakoré EgbosonJacobs OluFred Amata. The Cameroonian actors include Ivan Namme, Queenta Eyong, Magdalene Agbor, Goretti Folefack, and Makossa star Jean Pierre Essome.

This is a movie for those who love Nollywood-type movies, or who have been clamoring for a Cameroonian “Wood” of some sort.
