Atanga Nji wants security tightened in capital city Yaounde

Territorial Administration Minister, Paul Atanga Nji, last July 25, 2019 at the Governor’s Office in Yaounde held a security meeting to access the security situation of the nation’s capital in particular and the center region as a whole.

In his opening address to administrative and chief security officers of the ten divisions that make up the region, Atanga Nji said the security situation is generally calm and under control. He however called for tight security measures be implemented in order to maintain the tranquility that exist throughout the region.

The Minister regretted the incident that recently took place at the maximum security prison in Kondengui where prisoners created serious disorder protesting and decrying their living conditions urging government to hasten their judiciary procedures for their fate to be known. This, a very firm Paul Atanga Nji condemned describing it as barbaric and calling on them to be responsible citizens.

He also called on the administrative and security officers to put a close eye on the taxi and bike sector that have been infiltrated by thieves and bandits who strip their clients of their money as well as their personal belongings like phones and other gadgets as several cases have been reported in Yaoundé in particular and the region at large.

Exchanging with the authorities on how security can be stepped up, he urged the Yaounde municipal police to be peace crusaders and dialogue initiators especially with the citizens for public order not to be disturbed when they are discharging their duties.

He also used the occasion to remind opposition political parties that the presidential elections has come and gone as well as the electoral process with the proclamation of results and President Paul Biya re-elected.

The Minister warned political parties who are trying to hide under the canopy of the elections and to be enemies of peace to rethink their plans for the sledgehammer will not fail to hit hard on them.
