Heart Surgeon Rejects Poison Killed Ekema

Dear All,

I note with sadness that you guys are trading accusations on his actions( late Ekema Patrick) while alive.

We ALL forget one thing.

Sudden death can happen to anyone at any given time.

As a cardiologist, I immediately discouraged the rhetoric of poison with regards to the late Mayors case

Most sudden deaths secondary to heart attack occur during the early hours of the day . This, because, the circulatory system transits between the resting position to active/alert position . That entails increase oxygen consumption. People with unhealthy cardiocirculatory system could die during this phase of the circulatory system.

Also, it is alleged that he attended a funeral procession before heading home to Douala. With a background of hypertension, overweight and alcohol consumption, the later could have precipitated an unknown fragile cardiac profile.

I have WARNED colleagues in Cameroon about lack of thorough assessment of patients with cardiac conditions . And there is consensus that there is a significant shortage of expertise in cardiac medicine.

In view of the above, I will invite you ALL to go check up, seek advice when you run out of breath on mild exertion. Report to a cardiologist in the event of any form of cardiac discomfort. Do not always believe to doctors suggesting “GASTRIC” without a prior cardiac assessment.

May his soul rest in peace. Amen
