Cameroon ranked 2th most alcoholic Country in Africa

In Africa, Cameroon is a reference in terms of alcohol consumption. Our country is ranked 2rd largest consumer of alcohol. Cameroon is indeed just behind Gabon.

According to ABK radio, on average, in Cameroon, 9 litres of alcoholic beverages are drunk per person. Gabon does a little more than Cameroon with 9,1 liters per head.

These figures for alcohol consumption in Africa actually come from the world health organization (WHO) ranking of the African countries that consume the most alcohol in 2019.




In addition to Gabon and Cameroon, in the top 5, Nigeria is ranked 3rd with 8,9 litres per person. In 4th position is Uganda where 8,33 litres are consumed per person. South Africa ranks 5th with 7,77 litres per head.

The 6th position on the ranking is occupied by Rwanda, alcohol consumption is 7,12 litres per person.

The other heavy drinking countries include, Tunisia, Benin, Djibouti, Togo and Mozambique.
