Special session of Parliament: last hope to save Cameroon

A session of Parliament is called for tomorrow and it should be considered that it will focus on the content of decentralization and particularly, the special status of the English-speaking regions.

To some extent, this forum was expected. Indeed, biya ‘s regime has been the subject of intense diplomatic pressure to reduce tensions in the country by implementing the special status recommended during the grand national dialogue.

Since the government does not want to postpone the elections, it certainly wants to please the international community by adopting laws on this special status, so as to lighten the pressure.

The answer is clearly no, on the contrary!

But the essential question remains: even if such laws are adopted, will it lead to the end of civil war, at least reduce virulence?

The special status has shown that there is an English-speaking problem, and a bitter rejection of these will be be far from soothing the secessionist, this concession has been supported in the sense that only, force can remove spaces of freedom from the existing regime. Such a success, an unexpectedness of a regime that shows stiffness in its approaches, rather reveals its serious weaknesses and firmness in their positions.

Secessionist will know that they will continue not to give up again and again, and they will maintain their military pressure, accompanied by the diplomatic pressure of the world.

There is no need to wait for any of these areas. Of course, in the best case, 40 years, the average life of a secessionist movement, but the problem today is no longer to be avoided, but to reduce the harm And the attraction.

However, in this case, it is essential to disarm the historical arguments of civil which, it must be recognized, is extremely solid: under the control of the United Nations, Southern Cameroon had the choice between Nigeria and Cameroun. She Chosed Cameroon on the basis of a federal state. On the same basis, Northern Cameroon chosed Nigeria .

In front of an objective court, you can not convince the judges that the government of Cameroon was right to delete the Federation. And we can not wait for you in the world.

And that’s what you need to do, instead of playing smart. This will bring us absolutely nothing.

This policy of decay and small steps is much more important than it is when it is called a major issue when patriots convince the government that there is nothing.

What to do now is to restore the federation of 1961, possibly in the future. There is no solution in the maintenance of the Unitary State and it is to make the problem worse.

Of course, some say that such a restoration would bring peace, we would have handled it by foreigners. I do not say no, but at least the government would have nothing to blame itself and the anglophones would not have the argument of assimilation!

And that counts!

For this reason, I would like to hear from you in the future, opening a real perspective for the return to the Federation, possibly renovated. This is the only way to dry out English-speaking secessionist.

This does not mean that it is necessary to proclaim the Federation, but that it takes a clear statement that the shape of the state can evolve if the people decide so.

Because we have to say it in a clear, clear and final way! English speakers will never come back to the unitary state. There is no civil configuration, because it is the word “UNITY” that has become the fuel of hatred and war.

And this is what parliament will have to understand.

But if the Parliament persists in thier status as a rubber stamp chamber, then they will have helped the government in the collapse of Cameroon.
