One Dead, Eleven COVID-19 Confirmed Cases Recorded In Bamenda

The Regional Delegate of Public Health for the North West Region, Dr Kingsley Che Soh, says one person has died of COVID-19 and six more new confirmed cases registered in the North West Region.

In a late night circular signed on Friday May 1, 2020, Dr Kingsley Che Soh, revealed that one positive case had travelled in from Yaoundé, one from Bafoussam and infected four others here in the region.




“The population of the North West region is hereby informed that between April 24 and May 1, 2020, 15 more samples were tested in the region for COVID-19 and unfortunately we recorded six more confirmed cases including one death. This therefore gives a total of 11 confirmed cases of COVID-19 including one death in the region”, part of the announcement stated.

According to the Public Health regional boss, the one case who died, a 59year old male was brought for consultation in a very bad clinical state and his samples collected but unfortunately died before the results could come out on the 30th of April, 2020, at 6pm.




“He was safely buried at 11pm on the same day by the medical team. His contacts have been counselled, quarantined and shall be tested at the indicated moment”, he added.

Indicating that the other 10 confirmed cases are responding very well to treatment, Dr Che Soh, advised that the population should remain vigilant and report any suspected COVID-19 case. Insisting that COVID-19 is a reality and enjoining the population to prevent the transmission of the deadly pandemic that has plunged the entire world into chaos and serious jeopardy.
