Some wrongly write Southern Cameroons nowadays without an ‘S’ at the end. Let it be known that it was SOUTHERN CAMEROONS”: EVER in the plural. So it was because Southern Cameroons then comprised ‘Cameroon Province’, corresponding to the present Southwest Region which lost Widikum, Menka and part of Betieku to the present Momo Division about 1969 on the machinations of late Pa Muna. To the north was ‘Bamenda Province’, corresponding to today’s Northwest Region to the exclusion of Widikum, Menka and part of Betieku…
The only road LINK between Cameroon Province of Southern Cameroons and the Republic of Cameroun at independence was the Kumba-Tombel-Loum road. It was christened ‘REUNIFICATION ROAD’. For our purpose, it is unimportant that, to cross the ‘German Bridge’ to enter the Republic of Cameroun and vice versa years after the so-called ‘reunification’, one needed to produce a LAISSEZ-PASSER. What is IMPORTANT for our purpose is that that was the ‘REUNIFICATION ROAD’!
Upon the discovery of petrol at the Bakassi Peninsular (Ndian Division), leading to the construction of the oil refinery, (SONARA), REUNIFICATION was killed and buried by the abandonment of the REUNIFICATION ROAD in favour of the Tiko-Douala Road. President Ahmadou Ahidjo inaugurated the Tiko-Douala road on April 7, 1969. I was present at the occasion as one of the few students selected from the Federal Bilingual Grammar School, Man O”War Bay, to attend and hail Ahidjo’s love of the REUNITED Camerouoon!!! REUNIFICATION by that very occasion became supplanted by ECONOMIC EXPLOITATION that eventually led to the unconstitutional abolition of the federation in 1972.
As it can be seen above, those being callously killed today on the pretext that they are terroristes/secessionnistes NEVER played any role in the KILLING AND BURYING of the de facto REUNIFICATION that took place as far back as the late sixties!!! Should we even presume that there ever had been any REUNIFICATION, the killers of today are those that KILLED AND BURIED REUNIFICATION!!! In effect, they are the true secessionnistes by severing the umbilical chord of REUNIFICATION!!!
IT CAN SUCCINCTLY BE PUT, THEN, THAT TIKO-DOUALA ROAD KILLED AND BURIED ‘REUNIFICATION’ BY ABANDONING THE ‘REUNIFICATION ROAD’ FROM KUMBA VIA TOMBEL TO LOUM IN FAVOUR OF THE TIKO-DOUALA ROAD!
THAT WAS SOME FIFTY YEARS AGO!!!
