Bike Riders Promote Crime, Kidnap School children In N.W. Region – Paul Atanga Nji, speaking in Bamenda

The motor bike riders are part and parcel of criminal activities in the region.

About a year ago we met with the motor bike riders, their syndicates and we came to a compromise that we should give them 9 months so that they can go through their identification process because a motor cycle can not carry 3 people, a motor cycle has to carry 2 people.

A motor bike riders must have a jacket with a number because with your jacket and number, your syndicate will know that you are working in Bamenda 1, Bamenda 2 or Bamenda 3. So in case of any probkem base on your number we can go to Bamenda 1, 2 and 3 and know who Committed the offense.

We have realized that some motor bike riders are implicated in the kidnapping of school children, taking them to bushes to ask for ransom.

At times the population have to come out and block them that you cannot go out with our children.

We want to pass a clear message to all the syndicates that they are doing a wonderful job transporting people in times of difficulties but at the same time, they have to abide by the rules and regulations governing that profession.
