At the end of July 2020, Cameroon had Barely 6% (7,252.8) of the Road Network (121,501.5 km) Tarred

According to a presentation of the Cameroonian road network made by the Ministry of Public Works, as of July 31, 2020, Cameroon had an overall road network 121,501.5 km long. According to the same source, only 7,252.8 km were asphalted at the reference date. This represents a rate of 5.9%.

More than half of the asphalt network (4,570 km) in the country consists of national roads, compared to 1,562 km for municipal roads, 1,042 km for regional roads and 78.5 km for highways. The rest of the road network, totaling 114,249 km, is made up of earth roads.

Regarding highways, the 78.5 km linear which appears in the data of the Ministry of Public Works includes the 40 km (Yaoundé-Bibodi) already built of the Yaoundé-Douala highway, intended to link the two main cities from the country. For more than 6 years, construction work for the first 60 km of this infrastructure (out of the 196 km planned) has been lagging behind.

The government count also includes the highway under construction between Kribi and Lolable, 38.5 km long, in the southern region of the country. This infrastructure will serve the deep-water port of Kribi, commissioned in the southern seaside resort since March 2018.
