22 Billion FCFA Used so Far to Fight Coronavirus in Cameroon.

This was disclosed by the Minister of Public Health, Dr. Manaouda Malachie on State Media CRTV where he was guest in the 8:30 p.m. news Wednesday July 22nd 2020.

Minister Manaouda Malachie thus revealed that nearly 22 billion FCFA has already been spent in the government’s Response Plan against Covid-19.

According to revelation by the Minister, more than 19 billion CFA francs were taken from the Public Treasury account.




Two (2) billion in the Bgfi account and more than 150 million CFA francs in Uba Bank account.

Dr Manaouda Malachie also clarified how spendings were made.

Four (4) billion FCFA has been used for the construction and equipment of 12 Isolation Centers: one in each region and two at the airports of Douala and Yaoundé.

Two (2) billion CFA francs were transferred to the regions, to the governors and to the regional delegates of Public Health, to care for the sick.




One (1) billion for tests, 11 billion CFA francs for medical equipment and more than 800 million CFA francs to ensure quarantine.

Manaouda Malachie ensures that all expenses were made respecting the procurement procedures which were then introduced to the Ministry of Finance for the disbursement of funds.

Through this exercise, the Minister of Public Health intends to be transparent, while suspicions of overbilling and embezzlement of funds intended for the response arise.
